We are fortunate to have an ATHA chapter with members willing to contribute generously to make our meetings enjoyable and provide opportunities to learn and share. Volunteers may be needed to assist with events and projects and we hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to get involved.

Monthly themes for Show and Tell

Last year, in addition to bringing new work to Show and Tell, members brought past projects that fit into seasonal themes. It was great to see some old favorites reappear and made our Show and Tell even richer.

This year we are adding new themes for our monthly Show and Tell. If you have a past or present project of any kind that fits that theme, bring it! We want to see it! Our themes for the remaining months of the year are listed below, so take a peek and see if there might be something you need to put finishing touches on to show in an upcoming month!

  • December: Our homes (or any home)
  • January: Fond family memories
  • February: Pets/animals
  • March: Flowers in vases
  • April: Interesting/unusual borders
  • May: Bright and bold!

Facebook group

As a way to combat the social distancing during the Covid pandemic, Tina Carrick created the “Hookers on Hiatus” site on Facebook to stay in touch with Mayflower members and other rug hooking friends, post photos of current or finished projects, and see what others were working on. Now that we can meet in person again, the group is now called Friends of Mayflower Guild! Thanks to Tina for creating our page!

Treasure tables

The Treasure Tables will continue to provide opportunities for members to sell or donate items. If you have items you like to sell or just get rid of, there will be tables set up for members to bring in rug hooking items they no longer want. One table is for free items, one for “best offers,” and one for sales items. For the sales table, the Mayflower chapter will receive 10% of the sale price for each item sold.

Need a name tag?

Please talk to Catherine Flowers if you need a name tag. As a reminder, please leave your name tag in the basket provided before you leave. This way, you will always have it for each meeting.

Fundraising

We are always looking for fun ways to raise money to help us get more great speakers and teachers. One idea we will try out is having a raffle at each meeting for one item of value (donated by a member), such as a really nice pattern, wool, or other item (it doesn’t have to be rug related). If you have an item to donate, have ideas for fundraising or would like to volunteer in some capacity, please contact one of the board members. Thank you!
